Member of the Board of Directors

Christophe Cordonnier studied at the École normale supérieure (rue d’Ulm). He became an agrégé in history in 1983 and holds a PhD in economic history from EHESS, with a dissertation focused on Chile’s post-rent strategy following the crisis of the 1930s. His career spans academia (he has taught at the University of Bordeaux, the Sorbonne, the French Joint Defense College, and since 2023 at ICES), the banking sector (he headed the Emerging Markets Economic Research Department at Crédit Agricole Indosuez in the late 1990s), and publishing (notably ethnographic travel writing and critical re-editions of foundational texts in the humanities). Since the early 2000s, he has worked internationally for major development agencies as an expert in economic policy, with a particular focus on agricultural issues and green economy strategies. Christophe Cordonnier has lived in Georgia since 2019, where he led an agricultural development project supported by AFD and the European Union. He is also actively engaged in other countries, including Egypt, Moldova, Armenia, and Kazakhstan.
