Leonardo Ramos, Daniela Vieira Secches, Adriano do Vale – SEPTEMBER 2026

Les BRICS et la réforme du monde
In the face of a crisis in the international order, the expanded BRICS seek to strengthen their influence in global governance by promoting a multipolar world more favorable to emerging powers. To achieve this, they are creating new financial institutions, advocating the dedollarization of international trade, and putting forward an alternative vision of international relations. In this essay, the authors analyze the ambitions of a grouping that presents itself as the spokesperson for the “Global South” and appears to challenge the Western-centered international order. They examine the ambitions, internal tensions, and geopolitical visions of this evolving coalition.A clear and well-documented synthesis to better understand the reconfiguration of global power in the multipolar era.

This momentum raises questions about the motivations of the new member countries, the ability of BRICS+ to reshape the contemporary international order, and the internal coherence of a grouping marked by growing heterogeneity
